Camposaz 10:10 Post-earthquake San Ginesio - Sibillini Viewpoint
The tenth edition of Camposaz took place from Friday 7 July to Sunday 16 July 2017 in San Ginesio (Italy), a small town in the province of Macerata, inside the Sibillini Park. It is called “the balcony of Sbillini” due to its strategical location placed between the Conero seaside and the Appennino mountain range. The workshop is organized in a land that has suffered material and social damages for the latest earthquakes that hit all the area of the Appennino Umbro-Marchigiano.
The project, that is lead by Camposaz, has two aims: to create functional street furniture, improving the use of public space in a city in which most of its public space is interdicted, and to facilitate social participation and interaction, through the participation of some students of the local design school “Renzo Frau”. San Ginesio is a small town, but during the summer, before the earthquake, it was full of persons for its theatre activity. The theater and the main square are now inaccessible for the earthquake. For this reason the administration’s intention was to move, temporarily, the main public square to a large open area on the top of the hill. Therefore the main task of the workshop was the improvement of this public park, placed in the heart of San Ginesio, which is now a temporary substitute for the main public square which is partially inaccessible for safety reasons. The built installations include benches, a playground and a platform, integrated with a concert stage. This area will be the most important public space for the entire village, the only leisure area in a village under reconstruction.
