Hai D3
Hai D3 is a mixed-use district that serves as headquarters to the D3 community, envisioned as the hub for emerging local creative talent in the UAE. The architecture is defined by the use of repurposed shipping containers and the intention to preserve its raw, industrial form. As a development in the Middle East, local influences were adapted as container wind towers, which promote natural ventilation within the site. Integrating traditional Arabic neighbourhood planning in the design, 75 containers were stacked and configured to define outdoor "pockets" that serve as a courtyard for each building. These outdoor courtyards are integrated into the interior of the building by means of full-height windows punctured on the shipping containers, which frame the outdoor landscape and views of the Dubai skyline.
