Emaljehaven housing
A deserted piece of industrial property in the north west area of Copenhagen became the base for the co-existence of 192 flats, a new square and an open private park. The flats were organized with mixed ownership: 1/3 owner-occupied housing, 1/3 flats under multi-owner scheme and 1/3 public housing. The long stretch of Rentemestervej was radicalized by a 230 metres long terrazzo aspect.
The rectangular space was 'lined' with an avenue of birch trees obtaining an effect like in a cathedral. The long stretch was folded around the corners forming park spaces and open spaces. In the foldings volumes are cut out and hereby completely different tangible materials appear: walls in wine, glass, larch and copper.
