PUBLIC SCHOOL SIMONE VEIL
AIM - Cultivate the ambivalences of the "school" program:
• A place of learning versus a place of fun,
• A place that is easy to monitor versus a welcoming place,
• A secure place versus an open place,
• A simple place versus a fun place,
• A tailor-made place versus a multi-purpose place,
• A generous place versus a budget
• …
A school is a place of relaxation and freedom but also a place of pedagogy, learning and discovery. It is a place of possibilities where everything must seem possible: a place where you can test, discover and make mistakes.
ACTION 01 - Simplify circulation by tracing two straight corridors from one side to the other: an interior corridor and an outdoor courtyard serve the entire school. The chicanes of the old circulations have disappeared. The halls and sanitary facilities connect the indoor and outdoor circulation.
ACTION 02 - Exacerbate existing qualities. Each classroom retains its wide view and direct access to the garden. The morphology of the ceilings in a double house is maintained; morphology that offers low walls (child's scale) on its surroundings and high ceilings under the ridge. The constructive void is transformed into a technical plenum for the networks.
ACTION 03 - Add 3 prostheses to the existing one:
• Extension of the town hall square - a new hall offers a new access to the school and a face (non-existent until now) to the school,
• Circular playground of the playground - a playful shelter conducive to the imagination,
• Extension to the garden - bright but insulated sanitary facilities offer serenity of use to the students.
MORPHOLOGY:
• "Above all, it is an energy renovation". The building is surrounded by its new thermal mantle; envelope that sometimes becomes thicker to accommodate the program,
• A minimum structure. The implementation of a light structure makes it possible to support the courtyards on the existing one and to reduce the need for foundation work. Steel sections are optimized,
• Complexity. The outdoor facilities are the result of consultation with the school's students in the context of several workshops. Generously, users have designed a multiple playground to allow a variety of uses without disturbing each other. The sports areas, the play areas, the quiet time areas and the spaces for the little ones are then separated into four mineral courtyards with distinct and simple geometric shapes. The desire for freshness and green spaces has led to the planting of 30 trees and the demineralisation of the outdoor spaces. The lawns are accessible to students.
COLOUR
• Red, because all the buildings in the village are.
NOTE:
• The beams of the old courtyards are placed on red concrete pedestals. They are thus transformed into outdoor furniture for green spaces.
