Station et parc relais de Rennes
Unity and compactness for two transportation infrastructures.
In an urban environment constrained by difficulty in requalification, the Park and Ride creates a link between different uses, car traffic, pedestrian flows and the subway. Its compact volume incorporates a strict distribution of functionalities, which can be guessed by the solid-void composition and by the porosity of the mesh on the facade, required for the natural ventilation of the building. It highlights the various offers made to users and articulates the different flows around a central hall. The underground spaces are designed as a piece of city, large enough to be a collective space, and treated in a refined way to evoke the character of the neighborhood.
The Park and Ride assumes its role of hinge according to several aspects : as an intermodal hub of circulations and by exposing distinct urban forms/ assignments, by unifying and pacifying them through its fine proportioned scale.
