Office space
STRÅ arkitekter office space is situated on a street corner of a well-preserved early 20th-century building in the neighborhood Majorstuen in Oslo.
As architects, we decided to renovate our own office space, driven by genuine care and deep appreciation for both the place we work and the craft we love. Three aspects guided the direction when creating our own inspiring work environment:
Keeping history in mind - Over the years a number of different small businesses have occupied the space, (including a fish market, a shoe shop, and a cleaning company. Finding beautiful traces of the different users, we wanted to showcase the history of the space. For example, exposing a large mural of fish from 100 years ago when the space was once a fish market.
Openness - We wanted to make a flexible and creative environment where no walls separate the main space. Instead, a custom-made semi-circular curtain provides the option to divide up the space into a meeting room and two separate working spaces.
Uniqueness - The limited size of space required custom-made solutions. A wide range of multipurpose bespoke furniture allows for optimum use of the space.
The whole process became a labor of love, as we took pride in maintaining the historic features and were excited to see the transformation taking shape. The renovated office now reflects our strong bond with the space we work in and our genuine passion for architecture, motivating us every day as we create and collaborate.
