In the "De Kets" municipal environmental centre and depot the offices, the workshop and storage, the garage, the storage shed and the salt shed are housed in one volume in successive zones.
Between the garage and the shed is an open space so that vehicles can manoeuvre. The salt shed at the back can be used independently of the rest of the building, so that the gritters can also be loaded at night and during the off-season.
The different zones are separated by discs of clean concrete. Ceiling and walls are made of aerated concrete elements; on the outside, the volume is clad with facade panel made of natural stone granulate.
Where daylight is desired, openings have been made in the facade. Above the storage and workshop is a mezzanine floor. Because the diversity of functions has been brought together within an identical envelope, and all parts of the building have been given the same dignified treatment, the yard has a strong and well-organized architectural presence.
