Seashore Library

The Seashore Library by Vector Architects is not a likely placement for an archive of books, but there it sits in the sand, soft granules blown up against the board-formed concrete walls like tentacles reaching out from the sea behind it. From the exterior the structure takes that shape of an abandoned ship, but inside the space is warm and rich. Light moves through the space as time passes, bringing one room into revelatory sunshine and casting others into introspective shadow. With an entire wall of glass facing the ocean, visitors are welcome to peruse the nautical collection and sit in the tiered benches for a contemplative read.
