Full Renovation in Sagasta
A remodelling of a 285 m2 flat located in a 1920 stunning building with 3,30 m height ceilings in most of the house. During the intervention, we tried to keep most of the unique elements by putting them in value. We rethought an optimum distribution, providing spaces for contemporary living.
The proposal seeks to redefine the housing typology by transforming every single room into a mixed-use open space, using different building techniques and materials.
We generate a grand entry hall connecting the living room and dining area. The kitchen, in collaboration with Artificio, has a central big square isle as its main element. The 50 m2 living room and dining are set beside the kitchen, where we have arranged an extra office dining area of 30 m2.
In the main entrance there is a storage cabinet made up of recovered original cupboard doors. It is through one of those doors from which we enter the laundry room.
Next to the kitchen, at the central part of the house, and connected to the main entrance, there is a luminous multipurpose room, with a toilet and a shower, that can be used both as a bureau or as a guest room.
At the back part of the house there is a family living room giving access to the three bedrooms set in that area. The master bedroom has an isolated dressing room connected to the bathroom, with a built-in bathtub and a rain-effect double shower. Standard bedrooms also have ensuite bathrooms.
We tried to reveal the beauty of the past construction by preserving the original identity of the house. We recovered original wooden ‘pino melis’ flooring and finely crafted old pieces, such as moldures on walls and ceilings, as well as doors, antique radiators or pressure valves.
Our aim was to evoke the heritage of the house by breaking down the separation between the past and the new, enriching an outstanding lifestyle experience based on functionality.
