Wood house in Beaune
Atelier ordinaire is a design and architecture office created by Thomas Walter in 2014. He develops architectural work, ranging from the scale of the furniture, from the individual house to the public commission.
I grow up in the workshop of my father who was a carpenter. The ordinary word evokes simplicity, an absence of emphasis. The juxtaposition of these two words defines my work well. My approach is above all that of my clients, it is they who one day feel the urge to build a house, a workshop or a restaurant slow food on a beach. These elements are the raw material of my projects. My goal is to To implement this vision in the most just and sincere way.
This house is anchored in the industrial and rural habitat, inspired by artisanal buildings such as workshops, the tobacco barn, the shed, the hut. The oversized windows appear as large frames on nature.
The use of wood here allows the development of a dialectic between aesthetics and technique, the “rural” side of the house is nevertheless the result of structural panels quite contemporary.
