A depiction of the artificial coastline of Copenhagen, where reclaimed land has been used over the centuries for different purposes such as fortification, commercial harbour, industrial areas and city expansion. Land reclamation is still a widely used practice today, where for instance in Nordhavn a former harbour area is currently being expanded to accomodate the process of urbanisation. When completed, the area will have transitioned into an entirely different territory of canals and artificial islands hosting commercial, dwelling, and recreational facilities.
