The occasional interaction, formal or informal between employees promotes trust, cooperation and innovation. Workspaces, physical or virtual, invite interaction only if they properly balance these factors.
SANE architecture recently delivered a new office space for the creative branch of Paris based CODA strategies, in the 20th district of Paris near place Gambetta.
The project proposes the reconversion of the 150m² space in an innovative office environment – a concept of optimal work space that encourages the collaborative interaction while balancing its social and psychological dimensions:
Diversity/ Confidentiality/ Flexibility/ Proximity/ Authority
Diversity: The architectural solution proposes various types of workspaces: individual desks, open-space workstations, fun and relaxation areas, pop-up meeting areas, and auditorium.
Flexibility: We proposed a modular space that allows the interchangeability of the different exiting typologies (individual desks, open-space workstations, fun and relaxation areas etc.) but also the implementation of new/ temporary pop-up typologies.
Proximity: The configuration of the space must generate interaction in the shared spaces and give people reasons to stay there. Shared resources such as photocopiers or the coffee machine can achieve this goal.
Confidentiality: People must feel confident that they can converse without being interrupted or heard. They must also be able to avoid interactions when they want. Specific areas have been designed for this purpose.
Authorization: The organizational culture should also encourage the informal interaction. The quality of the fun areas and the comfort of use can transmit this signal.
Exposing the functional as a work of art:
The architectural intervention is minimal; the space becomes a game of reflective and absorbent surfaces, of textures, light and acoustics in order to illustrate the knowhow of CODA strategies: the efficiency.
