Equestrian boarding school
This boarding school project, succeeds to interact with the natural site of the riverside of the Loire and integrates perfectly into the existing ground plan. The orientation of this horizontal building and its large windows, offer wide views on the landscape, creating amazing working and living environment.
The site of the high school is marked by the presence of the Loire, visible from this natural balcony, on the limite of the wet meadows lining the estuary.
The high school opens towards landscape, and the quality of the views that it offers, establish an essential key point.
The project of creation of the new boarding school follows the logic of the site by implanting a new building in extension of the existing volumes. It is conceived according to a transverse rectilinear construction towards Loire, offers quality views for each one of the bedrooms of the boarding school, without creating any visual barrier for the existing buildings.
On the ground floor, are implanted premises dedicated to day school and to the collective life of the students. On the north side, the resource center is inserted in the overhang structure, and forms a balcony on the Loire. On south extremity, the school restaurant, connects the existing buildings. Both levels are exclusively occupied by 59 bedrooms, accompanied on common spaces to share, opening towards the meadows with the horses belonging to the school.
The architecture of the building is characterized by its linearity and its horizontality, consolidated by the presence of a stripe of black glass under the windows which captures the light and the reflections of the river. Every level is surrounded by a wooden passageway that act as sun-shade and complete the design.
