Eurythmy Building

Eurythmy is an expressive movement art originated by Philosopher, Social reformer and Architect Rudolf Steiner who described Architecture as ‘ frozen movement’.
The shape of the building for this dance classroom was conceived to capture the simple function within and to evoke the moment of eurythmy dance in space and time.
The design concept complements other the existing building within the school campus and draws from ‘antroposophical’ design forms.
The positioning of the building was carefully considered in relation to the slope, the existing trees and the direct connection to the existing multipurpose amphitheatre stage below.
The simple undulating yet contextual roof geometry reflects the mountains in the distant background and blends with the native gum trees dominating the campus landscape setting.
The form for the Eurythmy classroom is like the eurythmy dance movement, both simple gentle and distinctively confident in its own right.
