Iceland
Rasmus Hjortshøj takes a photographic journey through the Icelandic landscape.
Emergent
Iceland is part of the Mid Atlantic Ridge a volcanic active mountain range running along the Atlantic Ocean floor separating the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. Iceland is in essence the peak of a mountain emerging through the surface of the sea.
With the naked eye one can witness how water currents, volcanic eruptions and a violent climate continually shapes the natural surroundings, making the landscape not only diverse but also extremely capitvating. In this territory it seems the ground beneath your feet changes by the minute, and relative to a geological timespan it literally is.. Again, the focus of this collection is the interrelation between man and coastal nature. Here, however, the nature is so mighty that the relation seems to be one-sided only.
