Amsterdam floating museum
The main concepts of floating toy museum are the lightness and the relationship with water. The slender pillars support the weight of the structure giving a light and continuous filter and at the same time an extremely homogeneous distribution of the weight on the big float below the sea level.
The space created within the exhibition perimeter, becomes a large public square of games, creating a proper relation with the function of the museum. This space is situated at a lower level than the canal water, creating a pleasant connection with it, remembering the morphology of the Netherlands and their position below the sea level.
A rooftop terrace completes the top floor of the building and its wet surface (a contiguous blade of water) gives the perception of a direct extrusion of the sea.
