Renovation of old building in Covarrubias
The building, located in a medieval village near the city of Burgos, reveals the traditional type around this area: perimeter stone walls in basement and ground floor, and wooden framework with wall sections of sun-dried brick.
Although we were compelled to replace the original structure due to its disrepair, the construction work has remained true to the architectural type (using compatible techniques and materials) and the great age of the building.
The renovation resolves the moisture problems that had ruined the ground floor slab by using porous materials (which allow the building to breathe) and a heat recovery ventilation system that will assure a healthy environment.
Finally, the project arranges a flat on the ground floor and improves the accessibility to the cellar.
