The flat is located on the last floor of a small row residential building in the district of Gracia, Barcelona. One of the main features of the space was its cubic proportion, a rectangle of 55m2 and 3.9m of height.
The flat was conceived as an unique space distributed on different platforms that meet the needs of a young couple. This creates a new carpeted topography where the uses are mixed and interfere between each other.
A shelving that embraces the platform of the living space and the bed is built and in this way one common space is constituted where all the activities like sleep, rest, read, listen to music or watch movies happen consecutively or simultaneously without any kind of hierarchy or order of importance.
At the same time this spatial solution divides the flat in two parts and works as a filter between the access, the kitchen and the dining space and the rest of spaces.
A skylight is placed just above the sofas and like this the main interconnection with the exterior is zenithal, in a direct relation to sky, instead of fostering the view through the windows of both of the façades.
The wardrobes are intentionally separated in two different zones so that the mixture of usages is emphasized and in the same way each one can enjoy their own dressing room. One of them hides the access to the bathroom, which is the only part of the flat that remains out of view because of privacy and ventilation. The roof is glazed partially so that from the interior man can perceive and appreciate the volume of the house without losing the connection with the sky that is being aimed form the rest of the home spaces.
