Radar Tower

Shortlisted for the Equerre d’Argent 2017

The radar tower, modern landmark sited on Saclay plateau near Paris, rises its radome to more than 60 meters and embodies this large-scale science cluster. This high technology equipment, made of light grey prefabricated concrete elements, combines a formal simplicity and a complex structural functionality. Its structural wall, making up a both cylindrical and perforated trunk, plays with the changing light like an impressive kaleidoscope, and constituted a real technical challenge to assemble.
