Giestal 13
Giestal 13, is a refurbishment project for a common building that was about to collapse.
The three floor building has a flat per floor. The original infrastructures were replaced and there was a new configuration of the flat plan. The concept for this intervention was to create an outdoor area for each flat. This was a low cost intervention. The goal was to reuse the building components, such as doors, floorings, and ceilings. The exterior window and door frames were replaced by new ones with timber double glazing frames increasing indoor thermal comfort. The total cost was 250 per m2 , including new kitchens and bathrooms fittings and furnishing.
