House on Tatarka hill
Due to bridges and galleries, the simple cube of the house is naturally linked to several levels of the surrounding landscape, expanding and defining the boundaries of the living space.
According to the legend, Kyiv is a city built of seven hills. One of them is Tatarka – a historic neighbourhood in the centre of the capital, which forms a narrow meandering hill between Podil and Lukyanovka. Locating the main volume on the point with the best possible vantage point, we managed to make maximum use of the peculiar landscape features in order to creat living environment. The main living space is connected with the plot along its entire perimeter, resulting in an interesting walking scenario, including a lounge-zone with a barbecue spot, and a nice view over the city from the terrace near the swimming pool. The children’s bedrooms are separated from the master bedroom by means of the stairсase which overlooks the garden. All elements of the house are united into one single structure which merges with the natural landscape and marks the borderline of the living space.
