The project is located close to the Caius Cestius Pyramid, not far from the monumental complex of Porta San Paolo. The reference to the monumentality of the context is manifested: the smooth marble covering the facade, the exterior staircase and the symmetry of volumes dialogue with the nearby historic buildings.
This classical solidity is linked, however, with the strong modern connotation of the staircases twisted prospects and the glazed volume of the central hall.
In the main front, a series of square windows illuminates the service corridors, while the rectangular windows at the sides coincide with the offices. The hall is characterized in its inside by thin columns covered with aluminum and a glass band that provides lighting.
The outside gallery, distinguished by a different colored marble from the main volume, defines a filter zone between the inner hall and the outdoor green.
A dense grid of square little openings in the back closes the double height space of the mail sorting.
