Vaho
On-site installation in residential corridor in Brooklyn as part of the project Hallway Hijack at 66 Rockwell.
Curated by Phong Bui and Tomas Vu.
Recently, Esnal has focused on new and fascinating explorations of space in her installations. In 2016, she has completed the on-site installation Vaho, a dreamy and surrealist intervention in the ceiling of a Brooklyn apartment complex. Her silkscreen vapor-like shapes applied to the ceiling’s mirror highjack the conventional space of the elevator corridor and turn it into a space full of depth and imaginary possibility, almost emulating a sensory walk in the clouds above us. A departure from some of her previous installations charged with crisp and vibrant colors, Vaho shows a subtle, organic side of Esnal’s versatile site-specific work and the responsive nature of her work.
