Duplex House on Lake Constance
In a neighborhood of houses from the 50s of the 20th century is set back in the green stripe the house as a replacement for an existing building. Roof slope and proportion of the surrounding buildings have been taken, so that the house fits in naturally. Because of the location in the green area of the neighborhood, the outside completely dispenses with color. A shed and a carport complete the ensemble - they fix the new to the environment.
A roofed area with bench forms the entrance. The apartments are formed around a central staircase. It is a unifying element that structures the space: Kitchen, Dining and Living on the ground floor, bedroom and study on the upper floor; the top floor is dominated by a spacious studio room with bath.
The house is designed as a wooden frame construction with solid wood ceiling. Few, robust materials characterize the rooms: Floor, ceiling, windows and doors made of softwood, polished concrete on the ground floor, whitewashed walls. Rough sawn Wood in different widths is forming the outer shell.
