Contest of Villa Amico in Loano
Urban park design for Villa Amico in the city of Loano. Selected project.
Villa Amico's park planning approach aims to identify the main areas in which focused experiences connected to one another could create an unbreakable bond with the environment.
This park consists in well identified geometrically sheer areas that will be built through different actions: removing a good quantity of now growing eucalyptus plants in order to create new woody areas, which will have a rectangular shape to east and triangle shape to west.
Once removed the eucalyptus, the garden will surround the building on three sides and a linear grass will go along the north side. A rectangular fence will be installed on the line of the preexisting entrance. The trapezoidal shape square will represent the meeting point and will link the different areas (that's a contrasting element). The vegetable gardens will be used as educational amusement space and they will be located on the southwest side of the area, guaranteeing a close connection with the main building itself. The old building will be valued by the whole new park surrounding it as a reminiscence of the Italian garden.
Changing furniture choices while keeping some fixed elements will represent the dynamicity of the perception of the park space. The unlimited possibilities of changing the objects' position from lying position to standing position will create infinite points of view allowing visitors to feel as if they have never been there before.
Visitors will be the main characters in this new dynamic scene developed into different linear white clay court paths that will have suitable size for users. Linear paths will be spaced out with woody paths, ensuring a total accessibility also to wheel chair people.
