There Is Nothing New Under The Sun
A Solar Park, Calabria, Italia.
There is Nothing New under the Sun is a response to the international ideas competition Parco Solare Sud (2010) for the regeneration of 10 km of the Autostrada del Sole A3 in Calabria, Southern Italy.
Questioning the notion of productive landscape, the thesis project refl ects upon the “notion de dépense”
and investigates the relationship between physiology, metereology and landscape.
The Solar Park hence becomes the witness of the control of atmospheric and environmental characters, of the interdependency between atmosphere and organism, between corporeal and extra-corporeal, between physiological and metereological reactions.
The viaduct, derelict and obsolete infrastructure, uncovers itself as metaphor of perpetual summers and winters, as experimental cradle of mental spaces, where
physical magnitudes intersect eachother parametrically and microscopically. Light, air and chemical elements shape the programme (recreational, educational, research), throughout imperceptible fluxes.
It is thus a path untieing between polar architectures, artifi cial climats, hormonal and neuronal responses, appointed to provide the mere expericence of the Sun, as a dispendious experience, as an atavic act of life and knowledge.
