Shilpa Gore-Shah & Pinkish Shah are Founding Partners and Design Principals of S+PS Architects, which they founded in 1997. They are engaged in the study, reflection and practice of Design, Architecture and Urbanity. Their design approach is that every project is unique, and that the design should evolve through the particular characteristics of each project. Their work is influenced by their interest in History, Pedagogy, Travel and Common Sense. Shilpa and Pinkish are both alumni of the Sir J. J. College of Architecture and the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA. Pinkish is a Gold Medalist from the University of Bombay and has also attended the Post–Professional Program and Travel Fellowship chaired by Dr. Charles Moore at the University of Texas at Austin. Their work has been the recipient of several national architectural and interior design awards and has been featured extensively in various national and international magazines and journals. Their passion to travel has led them to several parts of India and explore the USA and Mexico where they have studied. They have also visited Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, UK and Turkey in the European subcontinent, and their love of Asian cities has taken them to Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and China. They have worked in Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, Albuquerque and Philadelphia before the start of their firm. They have also lectured frequently on their work at various locations in India and abroad and are involved as Visiting Design Faculty at the Kamal Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture, Juhu for more than 15 years. In November 2013 Shilpa was group leader of a workshop held with the Gaungzhou Architecture Faculty of Arts, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and the Shanghai College of Architecture in Chongqing - the work of which was eventually displayed and won Best Design Award in an International Exhibition organized by DESIGN SHANGHAI 2013. In 2004 they were invited to participate in the International Exhibition “ROOTS & TRAJECTORIES - 4 Young Practices from India” held at the University of New Mexico, USA, which subsequently traveled to The University of California at Berkeley, USA, in 2005. In June 2007 they were part of “IN SITE” an exhibition on Indian Interior Design that opened at the IFA gallery in Stuttgart and later in Berlin in August 2007, which showcased the work of 6 architects and interior designers from India.
