Kuum hotel & residences
Kuum is not only a hotel, but like a small settlement. It is like a small village with its hotel-houses, two restaurants, shops, beach and spa and residences.
The KUUM Hotel and Spa and residences consist of a 60 room Hotel, a Spa which will be run by Anandara and 40 residences and opened in July 2008 in Bodrum.
Bodrum is a Mediterranean port-trade settlement in the Southwest of Turkey. The area boasts a rich history of over three thousand years, including Hellenistic times. The venerated scientist Heredot was born there and sculptures by artists including Leochares, Bryaxis, and Timotheos were exhibited there and can now be found in museum collections around the world.
The clients wanted a design that looked and performed differently than want is normally expected in resorts for Bodrum. Strict building codes demand innovative and flexible approaches to design in order to find ways of introducing new interpretations.
Kuum is an innovative concept for boutique lifestyle and resorts. The architecture for KUUM was inspired by the regional beauty, resources and historical legacy of southwestern Turkey and the Aegean Sea. Specifically, the Kuum Property is located in Bodrum, an international destination renowned for its wonderful climate, turquoise waters and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Each unit of the project is modeled and designed with the flexibility to remove or add a level as necessary to fit the slope of the land. GAD’s aim was to design the units in harmony with their natural setting so they blend in and do not harm the environment or call for any trees to be destroyed. While designing KUUM GAD used the programs and formulas of the mathematicians like Stephan Wolfram and Nikos Salingaros..15 different units altogether work like a dna, but they outline different forms according to their functions (like restaurant, spa, recreational places, rooms) and not every same unit is the same but all the units has the view of the bay..Nestled on a seafront bay, the property uniquely coexists within the topography. The programmatic elements of the design all curve and shift according to the topography and sea views. GAD’s design creates a transcendental and peaceful world, redefining and at once presenting "the next generation" of contemporary escape destinations.
