Single Family Home
The new two-storey single-family home blends harmoniously into the existing neighbourhood fabric. Its formal division into two staggered volumes of varying heights creates a sleek, precise architectural design that integrates naturally into its surroundings while developing its own distinct identity.
The covered entrance area leads into a spacious foyer, naturally lit by a colourful stained-glass window by Aarau artist Roland Guignard. This historic work of art was preserved from the existing building and creates a special connection between past and present.
On the ground floor, the kitchen, dining area, and living room are arranged in an open-plan layout around the central circulation core. Generous floor-to-ceiling windows create seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces and provide a high quality of living with abundant natural light. The centrally located staircase connects the living areas with the bedrooms on the upper floor.
The façade design draws inspiration from the distinctive mural-like character of the surrounding houses. A coarse-grained surface texture and subdued earth tones give the building a timeless, site-specific appearance.
The monolithic construction using single-layer masonry underscores the architectural clarity of the design and ensures a durable, robust building envelope. Thanks to the vapour-permeable construction, the home features natural moisture regulation and a comfortable indoor climate. The sustainable solid-construction method combines high energy efficiency with living comfort.
