Petite maison
The aim here is to create a minimalist living space that makes the most of the beautiful existing garden and the proximity to the sea, a layout that allows the site to be experienced in a comfortable and stimulating way. The twenty square metres of floor space accommodate a dining area, a bay window with a sea view that doubles as a living room, a shower room, a kitchen, sleeping arrangements for five people, a toilet, and storage space.
Once again, to make life pleasant in this small space, the challenge is to feel as though one is living in the garden; to achieve this, several features have been employed: opposing sliding frames that disappear behind the walls, allowing the garden to flow through the house; a bay window that frames the sea and the village church, drawing the occupant into the landscape; a generous open-sided roof overhang sheltering the immediate surroundings, a twenty-square-metre terrace set back from the house, creating views from one to the other…
One will also enjoy the benefits of a small house: economical to heat, quick to clean, easy to maintain.
