Duplex apartment in the iconic Torres Blancas
Photo essay by Daniel Schäfer Studio
Inside Madrid’s iconic Torres Blancas building, the duplex redesigned by Studio Noju unfolds as a fluid reinterpretation of one of the most visionary residential buildings in Madrid. Originally conceived by Javier Sáenz de Oíza in the late 1960s, the building remains a sculptural exploration of curves, terraces, light and collective living within the urban landscape of Madrid.
This editorial photography story by Daniel Schäfer Studio explores the relationship between brutalist architecture, contemporary interiors and atmospheric living through a warm and perceptual visual language. The series moves through curved geometries, green glazed surfaces, reflective materials and open terraces where vegetation, water and concrete coexist in continuous dialogue, revealing a softer and more sensual reading of brutalist space.
Far from a static reading of brutalist architecture, the project develops a fluid and sensorial relationship between interior, light and materiality. Translucent surfaces, sculptural interiors and filtered light construct a visual narrative suspended between fluidity, intimacy and contemporary living.
Through a cinematic and painterly approach to architecture, interiors and contemporary culture, Daniel Schäfer Studio constructs visual narratives positioned between editorial documentation and atmospheric interpretation.
