House B-K
In the picturesque municipality of Pfalzen, nestled in northern Italy at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, Perathoner Architects designed a residential home that seamlessly integrates with its breathtaking surroundings. Set against the majestic backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, the house offers an unparalleled view of the rugged peaks.
The building’s design embraces modernist architecture, characterized by clean lines and minimalism, while paying homage to regional traditions through the use of locally sourced materials such as stone and wood. The project’s guiding principle was to harmonize the structure with the alpine landscape, ensuring a respectful and organic connection to its environment.
The steep terrain inspired a two-story layout, with the lower floor partially embedded into the hillside. On the north side, the house features a modest façade, while the south-facing front opens up with expansive windows, flooding the interior with natural light and framing stunning mountain vistas. The home comprises three distinct living units, complemented by a separate building that houses a spacious garage. At its heart lies an inviting kitchen, a cozy dining area, and a living room arranged around a central fireplace—all designed to maximize the spectacular views.
Constructed with a strong focus on sustainability, the house adheres to stringent energy efficiency standards and incorporates environmentally responsible materials. This commitment to ecological harmony has earned the building the prestigious "Climahouse Nature" certification.
