House in Suresnes
Located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, this apartment occupies a building characteristic of the 1950s.
During renovation, demolition work revealed the secrets of the original construction. By choosing to leave the raw materials exposed, the design of the project is made simpler to understand.
A section of the rubble stone wall was carefully restored, and the transverse beam, historically concealed within the masonry, has been highlighted in its raw state, emphasizing its significance in the project’s design.
The layout is guided by the intersection of its two main axes: the transverse beam and the central column, defining a secondary longitudinal axis. The various living spaces are furnished with custom-made elements.
A niche in the rubble stone wall houses a bespoke bar, designed to fit within its irregular architecture. This piece is detached from the niche’s walls, resting on the original marble base.
