HOUSES CK
An ensemble of two detached single-family homes was built for a client on a sunny corner plot in the west of Munich.
Besides making maximum use of the building rights, both houses have attractive garden and outdoor seating areas with privacy.
The natural-colored plastered upper floor sits on a slightly set back, dark ground floor. The top floor rises back as a staggered floor, creating surrounding roof terraces that are bordered with delicate railings.
On the ground floor of the larger house, an open spatial structure consisting of an entrance, kitchen, dining area and living area, divided into different levels, is arranged around an airy access core. A central fireplace faces all lounge areas on its custommade precast concrete bench. The interior can be opened up using large sliding window elements to seamlessly flow into the outside area. The staircases are mirrored in such a way that a continuous air space connects all floors up to the roof.
On the upper floor there are two children's rooms with a shared bathroom and separate toilet, a study and the utility room.
The attic is designed as a parent's floor with a bedroom, dressing room and large bathroom. There is also a spacious wellness area in the basement.
The smaller of the two houses has a slightly different room program though with the same number of rooms.
In a compressed space, an alternation of closed and open spaces creates a spacious feeling. For example, on the upper floor there is an open, bright work area in the hallway and the dressing area on the parents' floor is integrated into the bedroom.
