Casa Rita
On a 2,500 square meter plot located in a country club in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Casa Rita is the third essay on this housing manifesto practiced by the firm: situated with a north-south orientation, surrounded by lush vegetation typical of the neighborhood, the 1,140 square meter house is divided into two parts. Firstly, a barbecue area serves as the entrance, consisting of a pergola and a grill area, followed by the residential-studio building located at the back of the plot to maximize orientation and receive natural light throughout the day. The main house is organized by placing the private program on the ground floor, in direct contact with the surrounding vegetation, while the upper floor houses a social program with views of the treetops. The proposal is completed with the landscape design by Cecilia Grant, who works with the central axis of the project: the central courtyard that the house surrounds through a system of cantilevered ramps. These connect different spaces and create a fluid path that allows for a smooth transition between the semi-covered and covered areas of the project, from ground level to the accessible roof.
The bedrooms on the ground floor provide privacy and tranquility, thanks to the surrounding forest and the overall layout of the house. The upper floor combines the living room, dining area, and kitchen, elevated to allow for cross-ventilation and constant natural light. Meanwhile, the studio has independent access and a guest room. The first and second floors are connected by a semi-covered space: the slab that covers large spans throughout the project, varying in height and playing a crucial role in the overall morphology of the residence.
