Family house
Construction of a family home for a young couple in Villarsel-le-Gibloux, Switzerland. The plot benefits from a magnificent view of the Jura Mountains across the fields to the northeast and a sloping terrain. In response to these factors, the design is divided into two levels.
The first floor, on the roadside, is accessed by a few steps into the house. A cabinet running the length of the room separates the entrance from the living areas. These are arranged in a row, taking advantage of the generous volume created by the roof and ending in a loggia facing southwest.
Staircase access to the lower floor reveals the bedrooms, from which you can step out onto the fields.
This landscape brings us back to rural times. To engage with the site in a sensitive and sustainable way, the project is designed using wood, a material that recalls the spirit of the barns and farms that once populated the region. The use of subdued tones allows the building to blend in with this beautiful landscape with freshness and simplicity.
