The fit-out project of the new NTT Data Headquarter in Milan
In recent years the ideal workspace seems to want to compare, more than with a single activity and specific custom-built place, almost with the heterogeneity offered by an entire city: organic, vital, stratified, incremental in spaces and adaptive in the times that pass through and transform it.
For the fit-out project of the new NTT Data Headquarter in Milan, divided into 16 floors of about 1000 square meters each, the main operation was to make each floor unique in layout, materials and furnishings, by proposing within of the building the same type of complexity that it is found in urban life, which is able, by definition, to create indeterminate relationships as well as innovative processes.
Perspective variations, expansions and compressions of spaces, presence of iconic elements, references to public squares, stairs and courtyards, together with textured and coloured surfaces decline in original ways each floor, creating working environments with recognizable and specific identities. The set of different identities returns a rich and composite image in the shape of a “city in the city”, which corresponds to the variegated and heterogenous character of a 1500 people’ business community.
