106 cafe is located in the border city of Mangshi, Yunnan province, the multi-ethnic environment combined with the tropical climate gives this area a relaxed and comforting atmosphere.
These characteristics with the surrounding have been adopted in the project space where a set of shapes/objects, each with its own character and function, create possibilities for the people around them and in dialogue with them.
Geometries of local green twilight marble compliment functional elements/equipment clad in industrial raw metals, positioned independently from the given white space.
The purple is a reference to a local flower and the vibrant colors typical of Southeast Asia while the furniture, local wooden handicrafts, add warmth and a casual atmosphere to the overall environment.
