Bavaria 100
In the heart of the traditional film city of Geiselgasteig, a new modern office building was completed in the year of the city's 100th anniversary. The new centrepiece is a compact, three-storey building with a spacious courtyard in its middle. The front part of the building is elevated, which creates an inviting and recognizable entrance in connection to the courtyard. It is accessed by three staircases. The units can be flexibly expanded and adapted to any office typology. The basement contains underground parking, technical and storage areas.
The building was planned and realised as a system construction. This enabled a very short construction time and thus the least possible disruption to film and television operations on the site. Load-bearing and reinforcing parts are made of concrete and steel, the façades consist of large-format, wall-high prefabricated elements with floor-to-ceiling window openings. They are clad with profiled aluminium sheeting, vertical pilaster strips and a free distribution of windows rhythmically shape the façade.
The modular construction is deliberately shown, prefabricated parts and joints remain visible, which gives the building a timeless and technical exterior. The inner courtyard is designed in contrast: tactile materials such as a plaster façade with a broom finish, a gravel ground and the trees convey a calm atmosphere.
