The building is located in the district of Gracia, in the plot which was previously occupied by the historic Cibeles dancehall. The building consists of two different parts with separated gateways: the first three floors and the basement are designed for the activities of the Primary healthcare centre (CAP). Instead, the following four floors feature 32 apartments for the elderly. The Cibeles vivienda dotacional is one of the four experimental buildings by the European investigating project on the High-Combi system, which captures solar energy to satisfy 60% of the demand in energy consumption (hot sanitary water, heating and cooling).
The building has obtained an “A” energy certification, becoming the second building in Barcelona to reach the maximum energy qualification according to the Catalan Institution of Energy (ICAEN).
For this reason, the project received the Premio Endesa prize for the most sustainable residential building in 2011.
