Urban Mixed-Use Building Bankstrasse
The new building on Bankstrasse is located in the core zone and is in a prominent urban location: Located directly opposite of the Uster train station, the residential and commercial building replaces a heterogeneous, small-scale development and closes the gap in a block between the two banking houses of Raiffeisenbank and Credit Suisse. The massive structure of the building refers to the neighboring Credit Suisse property, which is a listed building and therefore strongly influences the street space. The representative significance of the high, stone semibasement is essential in this respect, as its use for gastronomy is intended to strengthen the revitalization of Bankstrasse. The building accommodates various uses: Gastronomy on the first floor, two office floors above and eight rental apartments on the two top floors. The battlement is framed by two massive roof superstructures, which protrude from the two front facades as chimneys. On the northwest-facing front side facing Credit Suisse, an alleyway is being created which opens up the first floor to the courtyard and strengthens its access. The courtyard façade accommodates the separate entrance to the offices and apartments, has several exterior spaces such as the continuous loggia at the front of the building and has a different design of the façade themes than the street side. On the other neighbour the building is directly attached to the fire wall of the existing, newly renovated Raiffeisen Bank building. The mixed-use building thus takes up the diversity of the surroundings as a theme and offers multiple interpretations with its careful implementation.
