Country House Küsnacht
A big house on the hillside with diversified interior levels. The grand house near the forest boundary in Kuesnacht corresponds to the hillside situation with slightly gradational floors. The houses volume follows the estate on three sides. Though in the south-west corner it gives room to a protected garden area through a round incision. The interior is branded by two flights of stairs which allow a circuit around a nearly enclosed three-storied air space from the kitchen through the living room to the bedrooms in the upper floor. On the ground floor something like an internal topography'' leads in multiple steps form the entrée to the dining room and frames a fluent space arrangement, which is purposeful articulated by the built-in furniture. In the upper level the childrens and parents sleeping areas are differentiated by an offset of the floors. A link is avouched by a connecting door in the walk-in closet. The strong masoned brick wall of sawn Muschelkalk responds on the side of the backyard with a change of the surface. Here the face of the stones is smoothly sanded, which brings a darker colour to light.
