According to the local city rules, we propose to put the volumes of the 2 buildings one close to the other in order to concentrate it into the center of the plot area. The 2 volumes will have the same “V” shape and a “common” roof. In plan, the “V” shape opens a big court yard facing the valley. In section, the roof shape makes the 2 volumes one in relation to the other.
The result of this primary decision is that the 2 houses have the same condition of view and do not face to each other, indeed they do face to the amazing view of the valley. In addition, despite the fact that the 2 plots have a different level of more then 2 meters, the inverted roof of 2 houses produce the same front height on both facades.
The “V” shape is different in terms of geometry from one house to the other, according to the plot area which are a bit different, being one a bit wider then the other. So that the “V” shape is more open in one house respect to the other one. According to the slope of the ground the “V” shape is not simmetrical, but it is more opened towards the valley in order to achieve the best possible view.
The proposal is based on the same principle of the “V” shape house but at the end the 2 houses are one different to the other, in order to avoid the repetition of the same building twice and to obtain a certain identity for each one of the houses.
We propose to build 2 houses using one material: bricks. To identify each of the 2 houses we propose to use different colour of bricks, brighter to darker ones. Roof and facades are made out of bricks. The cut in facade towards the courtyards instead is made out of glass and wood -or metal- vertical frames in order to open all the rooms to the view.
The programm is organized in 2 levels, with common rooms at the
ground floor and private rooms at the upper level.
The entrance from the street is produced by a stair which leads at the ground level that is a bit higher respect the street level. There is no more courtyards at the low level of the street in order to get a wider garden area at the ground floor level.
Car entrance and garage are placed at the street level.
