This school extension is situated in the bucolic hamlet of Bornival (Belgium). It is the result of an open call launched by the municipality of Nivelles. Five new classrooms and one technical block are completing the existing program.
The project judiciously extends the existing party walls, using red brick masonry, so that it emphasizes the character of the place. The new circulation spaces, joining the old and the new parts, surround two didactical patios, one vegetal and one mineral.
The interior spaces are characterized by an alternation of solid surfaces (exposed masonry) and voids (wood windows). Floors and ceilings are materialized by visible smooth concrete.
