CLARA. A Nomad Base Camp
Exploring alternative solutions for a temporary building.
Colectivo Warehouse, in collaboration with Forja, was invited to design and build the Nomad Base Camp, the first piece of “CLARA”, a research, training and innovation center for rural sustainable development located in the region of southern Portugal.
Behind the concept of this Base Camp was the idea of exploring different solutions for a temporary equipment, fast to build, to host the rest rooms, kitchen and outdoor areas for future workshops participants. This building is define by a simple black metal structure, combined with plywood panels treated with varnish with different pigments. The modular painel based structure, allow the team to design and prefabricate this building with few leftovers of materials and space, optimizing all the resources. The same system explores future possibilities to change, adapt and grow the facilities, according to its future usages.
All the prefabrication and building phases were made by Colectivo Warehouse + Forja team, using basic tools and skills.
