KNOTTNKINO
The three Knottn – red porphyry-hills – emerge suddenly from the forest- and meadow-landscape in Verano and lend the area its distinctive character. The circular hiking trail „Knottnkino3“ connects these three rock formations with their newly created resting areas.
At the Rotstein-Knott – in the immediate vicinity of the„Knottnkino“ – conceptualized and created by the artist Franz Messner in the year 2000 – evolves through circular cuts in the terrain, an even, from the porphyry elaborated space with a bench and a backrest. The circular segments immerge into the landscape and dissolve. The only thing that remains on the surface are traces in the form of lines.
A net of lines is the origin for the wind rose by the designer Antoinette Bader. A petroglyph cut in the even terrain of the porphyry at the intersection of context and intervention opens up a space for thoughts. Symbolically for the complex integration and positioning of the world the incomplete opens up a dialog between nature and man-made, between past and future.
The Beimstein-Knott directly above Verano wins over through its circuitousness and the fabulous view.
The installation‚Attimo‘ was realized after the sketches of the late artist Franz Messner and consists in the arrangement of five chairlift seats alongside an imaginary and hazardous route directly over the rocky hill. With a spectacular view on the village the installation creates continuity of the cable car of Vöran and connects the village through a ‚Direttissima‘ with the Beimstein- Knott.
The lowest of the three rock formations – the Timpfler Knott – prevails a calm, almost mystical atmosphere. Circular incisions in the rock transform the terrain and create a rest area. The circle as symbol for the eternal is despite its fragmentariness comprehensible.
From the distance the delicate drawings as a subtle landmark are made visible only through the shadow play.
Micheal Fliri’s sculpture of a wolf takes part of this place – it wanders almost randomly across the rocky dome. The image has a twofold meaning – the sculpture and its shadow play.
The symbiosis of two human hands, those of the artist, result in the shadow play as the silhouette of a wolf. The hands are caught in a glove – a costume – that only allows this condition. The frontiers between human and animal become blurred, theatrical stagings interfere with seemingly mystical and archaic tradition.
Die drei “Knottn“ - rote, abgeschliffene Porphyrkuppen - tauchen plötzlich aus der Vöraner Wald- und Wiesenlandschaft auf und verleihen dem Gebiet seinen prägenden Charakter. Der Rundwanderweg Knottnkino3 verbindet diese drei Felsformationen mit ihren neu gestalteten Ruheplätzen.
Am Rotstein-Knott - in unmittelbarer Nähe des vom Künstler Franz Messner im Jahr 2000 entworfenen und realisierten Knottnkino - entsteht durch kreisförmige Einschnitte im Gelände ein ebener, aus dem Porphyr herausgearbeiteter Platz mit einer Sitzbank mit Rückenlehne. Die kreisförmigen Segmente tauchen in die Landschaft ein und lösen sich wieder auf. An der Oberfläche bleiben einzig die Spuren in Form von Linien.
Ein Netz aus Linien ist der Ausgangspunkt für die Windrose der Designerin Antoinette Bader. Eine in den ebenen Platz geschnittene Felszeichnung spannt an der Schnittstelle zwischen Kontext und Eingriff Raum für Gedanken auf. Sinnbildlich für die komplexe Vernetzung und Verortung der Welt löst das Unvollständige einen Dialog zwischen Natur und Geschaffenem, zwischen Vergangenem und Zukünftigem aus.
Der Beimstein-Knott direkt oberhalb von Vöran besticht durch seine Weitläufigkeit und großartige Aussicht.
Die Installation “Attimo“ wurde nach den Skizzen des verstorbenen Künstlers Franz Messner realisiert und besteht in der Anordnung von fünf Sesselbahnsitzen entlang einer imaginären und gewagten Streckenführung direkt über die Felskuppe. Mit spektakulärem Blick auf das Dorf setzt die Installation die Vöraner Seilbahn fort und verbindet das Dorf entlang einer “Direttissima“ mit dem Beimstein-Knott.
Am tiefstgelegenen der drei Knottn - dem Timpfler-Knott - herrscht eine ruhige, beinahe mystische Atmosphäre. Kreisförmige Einschnitte im Felsen transformieren das Gelände und schaffen einen Rastplatz. Der Kreis als Sinnbild für das Ewige ist trotz seiner Unvollständigkeit begreifbar. Aus der Ferne macht nur das Schattenspiel die feinen Zeichnungen als subtiles Landmark lesbar.
Dieser Ort wird durch eine Skulptur des Künstlers Michael Fliri bespielt: ein Wolf streift scheinbar zufällig über die Felskuppe. Es handelt sich um ein Abbild im doppelten Sinne: von der Skulptur und ihrem Schattenspiel. Die Symbiose zweier Menschenhänden, die des Künstlers, ergeben in der Schattenprojektion die Silhouette eines Wolfes. Die Hände stecken in einem Handschuh - einem Kostüm - der nur diesen einzig möglichen Zustand zulässt. Die Grenzen zwischen Mensch und Tier verschwimmen, theatralische Inszenierungen werden mit scheinbar mystischen oder archaischen Traditionen überlagert.

Un disegno rupestre inciso sulla superficie piana di porfido espande lo spazio meditativo e interfaccia contesto e intervento. L’incisione è simbolo della complessa interconnessione e del posizionamento del mondo e innesca un dialogo tra natura e intervento, tra passato e futuro.
Il Beimstein-Knott, direttamente sopra a Verano, colpisce per la sua ampiezza e per la sua magnifica vista. L'installazione "Attimo" realizzata secondo gli schizzi dell’artista Franz Messner, consiste nella disposizione di cinque sedute del tipo seggiovia storica lungo un percorso immaginario e audace direttamente sullo sperone roccioso. Con una vista spettacolare sul paese, l’installazione prosegue con la funivia di Verano e collega il paese lungo una ”Direttissima” con il Beimstein-Knott.
Il più basso dei tre Knottn - il Timpfler-Knott - ha un'atmosfera calma, quasi mistica. Incisioni circolari nella roccia trasformano il terreno e creano un luogo di riposo. Nonostante la sua incompletezza, il cerchio, simbolo di eternità, può essere percepito. Da lontano, il gioco tra luci e ombre rende visibile, come sottili linee di riferimento, i disegni intagliati nella roccia. Una scultura di un lupo che sembra accidentalmente passare sullo sperone roccioso dell'artista Michael Fliri prende parte a questo luogo. È un'immagine in due sensi tra scultura e gioco di ombre. La simbiosi di due mani umane, quelle dell’artista, si trasforma nella silhouette di un lupo attraverso la proiezione dell’ombra. Le mani sono bloccate in un guanto, un costume, che rendono possibile solo questa posizione. I confini tra persona e animale svaniscono, vengono inscenate immagini teatrali, mistiche, arcaiche.
