The Bazargebäude, a building complex built by Leo von Klenze in 1824, sits on a prime location between Hofgarten and Odeonsplatz. Spread over two stories and 450 square meters, the building houses a photo studio, meeting room, kitchen, restrooms and space for 20 workstations.
The office is located in the Royal complex. The majestic atmosphere of the existing building was combined with an ambitious design and individual ideas for each room.
The preexisting structure was incorporated and supplemented through modern design. The built-in closets as well as the hardwood floor were refurbished and give the space an authentic character. Details such as antic door fixtures from the 20ies underline this design philosophy.
Four meters high ceilings are covered by sound absorbing wall panels and give a warm atmosphere. The overhanging Corbusier lamps reflect the ceiling height and grand windows.
The floor of the main areas such as the entrance are covered by black linoleum with red accentuated shapes. The mix of black and red can be found the restrooms. The high quality of the conversion is underlined through the usage of brass Vola fittings. The custom-built reception table seems to hover above the ground and fits in its existing surrounding.
Arnold/Werner Architects have implemented their ideas of holistic architecture in this contemporary office space.
