IKAL Store
Immersed in the context of high couture and luxury brands, arises the opportunity to design a space that exalt the Mexican design. Focused in traditional processes, the project is defined by the utilization of local materials and artisan techniques that defined us as creative collective.
IKAL is born as a 100% mexican retail; located on Presidente Masaryk Avenue, one of the most gorgeous and prestigious streets in México City. A concept store that gather the best of mexican design; talking about fashion, furniture, and author design. A space that will allow to the new scene, the projection they deserve.
The access is defined by a large white facade, made-up by a stacked matrix of steel cubes, building a permeable surface towards the interior. This matrix as a lattice is inspired by the purity, and as a concept, the imperative of a canvas, ready to shelter a contrast among textures and colors. The matrix is only interrupted by a sheet of glass, that frames the entrance and the principal showcase of the store, a veered spot, that set and couples by the tendency. As an ancient Aztec pyramid the access is influenced by the slopes of these magnificent structures (IKAL store as the contemporary temple of Mexican design), allowing an 8 meters ramp that invite us to enter and enjoy the interior design project, making the mobility a design priority.
The scoop of the design was a spot that could be flexible and arrangeable, all the furniture was designed specifically for the space; playing with unpolluted joins, the woodwork as a trademark of the practice, supported by a lighting and atmosphere project, arouse curiosity and stimulates the user in all their senses. Inside, the store is envisaged as a cosmopolitan and urban space a contemporary getaway for local creatives. With simple lines, pure and raw materials a versatile space is conceived; a modest ensemble that doesn’t interfere with the products emplacement. Characterized by the purity and simplicity of the design, the decoration language related us to emphasize the products and visual strokes that complement the idea behind the store.
It exists a holistic approach, the creation, the light and the presence. It is given to the user a belonging purport, intrigue, that bring near the approach and exploration of the space.
