Mise en cage is the design concept for Boudoire Boutique, a women’s wear fashion store located in Vasto (Italy) -a beautiful small city on the Adriatic coast in south centre Italy. The shop occupies a portion of an old church basement in the historycal city centre. Mise en cage concept raises from the aim to keep such eclectic clothes in order, supposedly under control. Actually, it is an intentionally unstable order, due to the tension existing between those eccentric, colourful garments and the white, metal wired boxes containing them. The 50 sq meters space is organized purposedly in two rooms for two different uses. The main space is dedicated to the collection. Here, the client is guided through a coloured line created by clothing hanging inside the ethereal white boxes. The second room is characterised by two massive steps that define a multifunctional space composed by two fitting rooms, a big mirror and accessory displays. The wide steps give dynamism to the room turning it into a chilling area and the ideal space for collection launch, photoshooting and events. The whole space is shaped by vaults and total white has been chosen as background so to let the clothes stand out. Lighting projectors plus neon-light are principally used to emphasize the exposition and secondly to give reflected illumination to the whole space.
