61HA is a confined but carefully designed extension to a ground floor flat in London. The design focuses on the creation of a high-quality space, within a complicated irregular site.
Preserving the spirit of the existing Victorian end of terrace the project combines contemporary materials with traditional architectural features.
The project fills a triangular space to the rear of the flat containing a new bedroom with en-suite bathroom connected by a glazed lobby which allows natural daylight to enter both the existing kitchen and the proposed extension. The intervention of the lobby provides not only a visual connection to the outdoors and a link to the extension; it dramatically improves the spatial atmosphere within the kitchen.
Thoughtful design and detailing and careful consideration to the choice of furniture has meant every inch of space has been used to maximum effect.
